WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Two people are facing charges after police say they stole from a donation jar, and then tried to make a quick escape.

Police say David Humphrey, 19, and Cody Mullis, 23, grabbed the donation jar for Shop With A Cop at the Xpress Station off Exit 15 in Williamsburg. That's when police say the two fled the scene, all while nearly causing several accidents. One man is accused of taking the donation bin. The other is accused of driving the getaway vehicle.

The men were eventually pulled over, and the bin was returned. Gas Station Manager Kay Martin tells us she's happy to have it back, but she feels sorry for the accused.

"I hate that he's having to spend his Christmas in jail over a few dollars," said Martin.

Unfortunately, workers there are familiar with crime at the business. The gas station was robbed a month ago.
