JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - For six months, authorities have searched for a missing Johnson County couple, Larry and Sandra Blanton.

"The last time these people were seen alive was last September 5th of last year. So it's been a gruesome six months for us and it's been a nightmare for the family, " says Johnson County Sheriff, Dwayne Price.

Investigators have received hundreds of leads but all searches have come up empty until Friday. They received a tip that lead them back to the Blanton's property, where they discovered two bodies buried underneath a barn.

Sheriff Price adds, "The tip we got yesterday was confident. In our hearts, we believed this tip was dead on."

The bodies are now in Frankfort awaiting an autopsy. Investigators will now shift their efforts from a missing persons case to a double murder investigation.

Authorities feel confident that the two bodies are Larry and Sandra Blanton, even though the autopsies are not yet complete.

Law enforcement officials have not filed charges against anyone in the case. In the past, Sandra and Larry Blanton's son, Willie along with his girlfriend, Amanda Fannin have been persons of interest in their disappearance.
