Two injured in New Circle Road crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Two people were taken to UK Hospital with serious injuries on Saturday after a crash in Lexington.

Police tell WKYT that a gray Lexus was pulling out of a shopping center near Russell Cave Road and New Circle Road when it clipped a white Mercury sedan.

That caused the Mercury to drive over a bridge and guardrail and crash into a nearby creek.

The driver and passenger of that car were transported to UK Hospital.

The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

Police say a tow truck was pulling the Mercury out of the creek around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

All inbound lanes were blocked on New Circle and traffic was backed up for at least an hour.

All lanes are now open.
