UK police alert students to a 'Suspicious Incident' on Campus

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK police are alerting students to a report of a scary situation on campus where a strange man is accused of approaching a student.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. near Smith Hall. UK police are calling it a suspicious incident.

A witness reported to police that a woman was walking by two older gentlemen leaning against a bike rack, when one of them reached out and touched her shoulder.

The witness tells police the victim then kicked the man and ran away, however UK police have yet to identify the victim.

"At this time we don't have any crime victim that has come forward to tell us what happened, " said UK Police Chief Joe Monroe. "So really we don't have a crime that we can say has happened on campus."

UK police tell us the witness went to the front desk worker at Baldwin Hall with the information and then contacted UK police.

UK police are encouraging anyone who saw anything to come forward, including the victim involved.

The incident on Tuesday afternoon comes on the heels of a similar report on campus last week when a young girl says she was approached by a man in a car at the aquatics center.

UK police do not believe the two incidents are related.
