UofL hires new business school dean

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The University of Louisville has hired a former corporate accountant and veteran school administrator as the next dean of its College of Business.

Carolyn Callahan becomes the first black and first woman to hold the top job at UofL's business school.

Callahan has been director of the University of Memphis' School of Accountancy. She also worked at the universities of Massachusetts, Notre Dame and Arkansas. She was an accountant for the jet engine division of Pratt & Whitney, a U.S.-based aerospace manufacturer.

She will assume her new job at UofL on or before July 1, 2014. She'll replace Charles Moyer, who has been UofL's business school dean since 2005.

Callahan says she hopes to build on the business school's student achievements, business partnerships and commitment to innovation.
