LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say three people were tied up during an early-morning home invasion Tuesday.
Geoff Byrd didn't want to go on camera. He said he's still pretty shaken up over what happened. He said he and his roommates were asleep inside their second-floor apartment around 2:00 this morning, when the trouble began.
"Kicked in our door put guns in our faces, zip-tied us up, put me and my roommates on the ground in the middle of the living room and were yelling and asking us where our money was," Byrd said.
He said he tried to reason with the two men, but said they weren't listening.
"I was like, 'I don't think we're the guys you're looking for,' you know, I was like 'I don't I think you got the wrong place,' you know. They just were insistent on taking our money and I gave them all. It's not worth it to me," Byrd said.
He said they took cash and all of their cell phones, so they had to drive to a friend's house to call police. He said the emotional damage is worse than the money taken.
"I don't know why they want to come here and you this do you know if anything it's more of our security and her well-being that's really damaged here," Byrd said.
Police don't have much of a description to go on. They said the people in the apartment told them the men were wearing bandannas over their faces and were wearing dark clothes.
