Woman pleads guilty in child's death

Updated: Wed 8:16 PM, May 30, 2012

It's been nearly a year since Sierra Hubbard was killed after a minivan ran her over. Today, the woman behind the wheel has pleaded guilty to reckless homicide.

Jullie Reese pleaded guilty to charges of reckless homicide this morning, reversing the not guilty plea she made back in September. 12-year-old Sierra Hubbard, Reese's goddaughter, died on June 24, 2011 after she was run over by the minivan Reese was driving near Constitution Park. At the time, police said they believed Hubbard was trying to jump into the van as it was moving and lost her footing. They say Reese didn't realize she'd run over the girl and kept driving, but turned back and found her critically injured. Police initially called the death a "horrible accident", but arrested Reese and charged her with reckless homicide in September.

Reese is scheduled to be sentenced July 9. She faces a maximum of five years behind bars.
