Women in Petraeus scandal had visited White House

WASHINGTON (AP) - Their close ties to the military community gave them unusual access to top generals. And Paula Broadwell and Jill Kelley even visited the White House on separate and apparently unrelated occasions before a sex scandal brought down former CIA Director David Petraeus.

A White House official says neither woman met with President Barack Obama during their visits.

Broadwell, who had an affair with Petraeus, attended meetings on Afghanistan-Pakistan policy at the White House complex in June 2009 and June 2011.

The Tampa, Fla., socialite who initiated the investigation that revealed the affair, Kelley and her twin sister had two "courtesy" meals at the White House mess as guests of a midlevel aide in September and October. Kelley and her family received a White House tour the weekend before the election.
