Workshops on cemetery preservation offered

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky Historical Society program has workshops starting soon to help people learn how to preserve local cemeteries.

The first workshop will be April 13 in Williamsburg and will cover Wayne, McCreary, Whitley, Bell and Knox counties. Each workshop is tailored to specific counties.

The workshops will cover topics such as state cemetery laws, access to family cemeteries, preservation efforts and introduction of two new programs, Pioneer Cemetery and Adopt-a-Cemetery.

Later workshops will be April 20 in Cumberland, April 26 in Paintsville, May 11 in Olive Hill, May 18 in Richmond, June 15 in Winchester, June 29 in Carlisle, July 13 in Jamestown, July 20 in Munfordville and July 27 in Burkesville.
