McConnell Reports Raising Nearly $9 Million For Re-Election Campaign

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's campaign has announced that he has surpassed nine million dollars in fundraising for his re-election campaign next year.

McConnell still has nearly seven million dollars on hand.

The Kentucky Republican does NOT have a Democratic opponent for the 2008 election. McConnell has been under attack by anti-war critics criticizing him for supporting President Bush's Iraq War policies.

McConnell says in a statement issued by his campaign that they will not slow down before next year's election.

Attorney General Greg Stumbo is among Democrats pondering a run against McConnell next year.
