FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Ernie Fletcher has spent $2.2 million so far in his general election campaign against Democratic challenger Steve Beshear, according to a financial report.
Fletcher still had $1.2 million on hand as of Oct. 5, according to the 802-page campaign finance report filed Tuesday with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.
"We are very pleased with fundraising," said Fletcher spokesman Jason Keller. "Folks across Kentucky are responding to the governor's message and we believe this fundraising haul, along with the events scheduled throughout this month, will enable us to run a highly effective campaign up until Election Day."
The finance report shows the total amount of money raised at $3.4 million.
The Beshear campaign hasn't yet filed its report. The deadline for filing is Wednesday.
