Governor Changes Gear In Campaign For Re-Election

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Governor Fletcher is re-directing his campaign for re-election by telling voters about his accomplishments, rather than why they should not vote for his opponent.

Fletcher's campaign launched a TV ad yesterday touting reasons to support the Republican governor. The 60-second spot is airing statewide and is narrated by Fletcher.

The commercial follows spots that attacked Democratic foe Steve Beshear over his role as a lawyer in the liquidation of Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company and his support of casino gambling.

The Republican Governors' Association also has bought ads criticizing Beshear's stances on several social issues, such as posting the Ten Commandments in schools.
