Fletcher Says The Polls Are Wrong

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Consistently behind in recent political polling, Governor Ernie Fletcher says the enthusiasm for his campaign in western Kentucky doesn't reflect the poll results.

Referring to next week's election, Fletcher said, "The real poll is on Tuesday."

Recent polls by the Courier-Journal in Louisville and the Lexington Herald-Leader show Democratic challenger Steve Beshear leading the gubernatorial race with Fletcher trailing by as much as 24 percentage points.

Fletcher campaigned yesterday in Hopkinsville, Cadiz, Murray, Princeton, Marion and Paducah.

His opponent, Steve Beshear, spoke in Louisville, saying he's more than happy to talk about values, as Fletcher has been doing.

Beshear says two values that Democrats hold dear are honesty and integrity.

He says those values have been missing from Frankfort during the last four years.
