Hollenbach wins Democratic primary for treasurer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky treasurer Todd Hollenbach has
easily won the Democratic primary over western Kentucky businessman
Steve Hamrick.
With 52 percent of precincts reporting on Tuesday evening,
Hollenbach had 55,826 votes, or 72 percent, to western Kentucky
businessman Steve Hamrick's 21,638 votes, or 28 percent.
Hollenbach was first elected to the post in 2007 and says since
taking office he has run the most cost-effective agency in state
government. Hamrick, a retired Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) minister, twice ran unsuccessfully for Congress in western
Kentucky in the early 1990s.
Hollenbach will face Lexington councilwoman KC Crosbie, an
unopposed Republican, and Libertarian Ken Moellman of Caddo in the
fall election.
The treasurer serves as the state's top financial officer.
