FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Richie Farmer, the running mate to
Republican gubernatorial candidate David Williams, won't have to be
in divorce court until after the general election.
Attorneys exchanged barbs Tuesday about whether Farmer, a former University of Kentucky basketball star who has served two terms as state agriculture commissioner, has been trying to delay a trial in his divorce case for political reasons.
Farmer's wife, Rebecca, took the unusual step of filing for
divorce in the midst of Kentucky's gubernatorial election. She
hasn't said why she wants a divorce.
Judge Squire Williams set the case for trial on Nov. 22.
Richie Farmer is running with Williams to challenge Democratic
Gov. Steve Beshear and his running mate, former Louisville Mayor
Jerry Abramson, in the Nov. 8 election.
