Horne Says He's Endorsing Lunsford In Senate Race

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Iraq war veteran Andrew Horne says he's endorsing one-time rival Bruce Lunsford in the Democratic Senate primary in Kentucky.

Horne is scheduled to make his endorsement official later Thursday morning at a news conference in Frankfort. The ex-Marine was once a candidate himself but dropped out of the crowded field of Democrats wanting to take on Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell.

Horne says he's backing Lunsford because Kentucky needs a change in leadership in Washington, and he says the Louisville businessman has the best chance of unseating McConnell. Horne says he also agrees with Lunsford on a wide range of policies, including the economy, health care, the Iraq war and veterans issues.

Kentucky Democrats will choose a Senate nominee in the May 20 primary.
