FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The state Council on Postsecondary Education has hired a former aide to Gov. Ernie Fletcher as its new permanent president.
Brad Cowgill, who was Fletcher's state budget director, has been the council's interim president since September. The council decided on Monday that Cowgill should hold the job permanently.
But Gov. Steve Beshear says he is "very disappointed" by the council's actions and is planning to review his options.
Cowgill officially takes the permanent post on May 1.
The council is the state's coordinating agency for Kentucky's public universities and community and technical colleges.
