The race for Senator Jim Bunning's seat is heating up, and candidates are campaigning all over the state.
Trey Grayson and Rand Paul are locked into a fierce campaign for the Republican nod for the open seat. The candidates were in London and discussed a number of topics.
Both disagree with the President's stance on health care.
"I think health care should be cured with more capitalism, more free market, more competition, not more government," Paul said.
"The last thing we want to do is hurt our existing delivery system. We don't want bureaucrats standing between you and your health care provider," Grayson said.
One hot topic is Senator Bunning's decision to block the $10 billion extension of unemployment benefits, saying it will add too much to the federal deficit. Grayson and Paul both say he made the fiscally responsible choice.
"Where's the money gonna come from? So he's saying take the money from where it's already been allocated, which seems like a reasonable position actually," Paul said.
"We need to pay for it. It's a principle that the government needs to start following. That's the way we do it at home, and that's the way we do it in Kentucky," Grayson said.
Grayson recently debuted an ad saying Paul attacked the coal industry, an ad Paul says is "intellectually dishonest." Paul says he is against cap and trade, in favor of mountain top removal, and wants to rein in power of the EPA.
"None of those sound like I'm very anti-coal. So for him to come out and say I'm anti-coal is a ridiculous statement," Paul said.
"They want someone who's going to fight and stand up to President Obama and his war on coal. I'm their guy," Grayson said.
Both hope their trips to London swayed some votes their way so they can bring these ideas to Washington.
The primaries will be on May 18.
