LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Louisville Regional Airport Authority says a survey of the economic impact of Louisville International Airport and Bowman Field show the facilities generated more than $7 billion in total business expenditures in the metropolitan area last year.
The surveyed conducted by the University of Louisville also shows the airports generated more than $2.28 billion in total payroll and produced more than $320 million in state and local tax revenues.
The Airport Authority also said the survey shows the airports supported 64,135 total jobs, or more than 9 percent of all jobs in the Metropolitan Statistical Area attributable to airport-related activities.
The Airport Authority said that the Airports Council International 2011 report shows Louisville International moved up one place to ninth among the world's largest cargo airports.
