Fontaine Banks, former chief of staff to Kentucky Govs. has died

Fontaine Banks Jr., a powerful political figure in Kentucky died Friday. Banks was 84.

Banks was a powerful figure in Frankfort for decades and served as a top official for several governors.

He was chief of staff to governors Bert Combs and Ned Breathitt and pushed hard for civil rights legislation.

The State Journal reports Harrod Brothers Funeral Home will handle arrangements.
