Incumbent Democrat Todd Hollenbach raced to an early lead in his bid for re-election as Kentucky's treasurer.
Hollenbach is depending on support from his hometown of Louisville while Republican K.C. Crosbie is looking to Lexington voters who know her from her years on the city council.
With 34 percent of precincts reporting, Hollenbach had 144,838,
or 50 percent of the vote, to Crosbie's 129,952, or 45 percent. Libertarian Ken Moellman had 14,696, or 5 percent.
Moellman, who has campaigned to eliminate the treasurer's job,
was expected to draw some conservative voters away from Crosbie.
Crosbie has outraised the incumbent Hollenbach nearly 2-to-1 and has run TV ads accusing the Democrat of failing to balance the
state's checkbook.
