Election Day was more than a week ago, but Friday we could learn if the outcome of one highly watched race could change.
A recanvass requested by Republican Andy Barr will happen Friday morning.
Barr lost the Sixth District Congressional race to incumbent Ben Chandler by just six hundred votes last Tuesday. Chandler claimed victory after the election, but Barr did not concede.
County clerks will re-check voting machines and absentee ballots this morning to make sure they were reported correctly.
"They'll essentially check the math. And what that means is they'll take the tapes and check the results and see if they actually went that way," said Secretary of State Trey Grayson.
The recanvass will happen in Anderson, Bourbon, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Powell, Scott & Woodford Counties. The state should have a final report Friday morning.
If Barr wants to ask for a recount, he would have to file a lawsuit in Franklin Circuit Court.
Barr has scheduled a news conference to discuss what he plans to do next for 3:30 this afternoon, at the Fayette County Republican Party Office on Southland Drive.
