U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is scheduled to appear before Kentucky lawmakers late next month in support of a state resolution calling for a constitutional convention to force the federal government to balance its budget.
Lourdes Baez-Schrader, spokeswoman for Republican state Senate President David Williams, made that announcement Thursday in a statement. Williams, who is running for governor, intends to sponsor the
resolution calling for a constitutional convention.
Paul won a seat in the U.S. Senate last November in part by promising to push for a balanced federal budget. He will testify on Feb. 22 before the Senate State and Local Government Committee and later the same day will speak to the full Senate.
