FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Senate Republicans have concluded two days of meetings without a leadership challenge.
That means Sen. David Williams of Burkesville will remain president, at least until his term expires in 2012.
The Lexington Herald-Leader and The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported Thursday that some had thought Williams was weakened politically last month when he lost his race for governor and that he might be replaced by his peers.
Williams told the newspapers that no one challenged him for the leadership spot in the meetings that were held to prepare for the upcoming legislative session.
