Hostage released in standoff; suspect killed

Louisville Police say the suspect in a hostgage-taking incident apparently shot himself after releasing another man unharmed.

WLKY-TV reports the suspect later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The 12-hour-long standoff ended at 3:36 a.m. Tuesday after the suspect quit talking to hostage negotiators.

Members of the Metro Louisville Police SWAT team heard a single gunshot and the hostage walked out of a building at a custom cabinet manufacturing plant unharmed.

The incident started Monday afternoon at Linden Millwork, Inc.

Police say the suspect was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital
with what he described as a life-threatening wound, where he later died.

The identities of the gunman and the hostage were not
immediately released.
