COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A defamation lawsuit involving a gossip website and a former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader convicted of having sex with a teenage student is to be retried this week in northern Kentucky.
The retrial of the lawsuit by former high school teacher Sarah Jones is to begin Monday in federal court in Covington, Ky. Jones is seeking $11 million over two 2009 posts on thedirty.com. The posts said she had sex with every Bengals player and probably had two sexually transmitted diseases. Jones says the posts were untrue and caused her severe mental anguish.
A January trial in the lawsuit against the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based site and its operator resulted in a hung jury.
The posts were unrelated to Jones' guilty plea last year to charges she had sex with an underage ex-student.
