WASHINGTON (AP) - A senior administration official says the United States is weighing ending spying against allied heads of state.

The official said late Monday a final decision has not been made and an internal review is ongoing. The review comes amid the furor in Europe over revelations that the National Security Agency allegedly eavesdropped on German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The official was not authorized to discuss the ongoing review by name and insisted on anonymity.
