CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois Sen. Roland Burris will be back in
Washington today to face his colleagues for the first time since
the latest furor erupted over his appointment by the ousted
The Democrat plans to attend a joint session of Congress for a
speech by President Barack Obama. Burris spokesman Jim O'Connor
says he doesn't know yet who the senator might meet with.
Burris is under fire over accusations that he lied about
circumstances surrounding his appointment. He's resisting pressure
to resign, even from within his own party.
Fellow Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin wants to schedule a meeting
with Burris "as soon as possible." Durbin has not called for
