Obama Will Add 4,000 Trainers for Afghan War

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama lays out his
long-awaited new strategy in Afghanistan today, calling for sending
thousands more Americans there.
The new policy follows months of reviews submitted by various
parts of the military, but won't focus on fighting alone. Instead,
it's spread across adding forces, increasing aid to Pakistan and
sending civilian advisers.
With the violence mounting, sources say the plan includes
sending another 4,000 military trainers to help dramatically grow
Afghanistan's own forces. Another key is offering more aid to
Pakistan if it does more to take away militant sanctuaries.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says success in Pakistan is
key to Afghanistan, and vice versa, and analyst Rick Barton says
the two nations need to step up.
Sources say in the broad view, the goal is to work toward
preventing al-Qaida from hurting U.S.-backed governments or
launching attacks on America and its allies.

It's kinda ironic that the "surge" that Obama voted against as a senator and railed against on the campaign trail, is the very thing he is trying as President. I am waiting for the Code Pink rallies and the long blistering, hate filled articles in the NYT, Or the body count on the evening news every night. We shall see... I'm not holding my breath.

Terror threats from Afghanistan is always a clear and present danger. A more pressing danger is the porous border between the US and Mexico where the drug cartels have opened routes to the Hezbollah terror group from Lebanon, they are smuggling people, drugs and weapons into this country. Remember it only took 19 people to pull off the 9/11/01 attacks, what do you imagine an unlimited number could do? It is apparent we are not going to have travel half way around the world to get into a fight!

All I see is 'more soldiers' going in to ?train?-. Ah, that's the 'change'! But the ones who put obama in will still see it as a positive 'change'. With private citizens going in I see more kidnappings and beheadings. Depression's here folks and it's only just begun. I was raising a garden when Michelle Obama was just a gleam in her Daddy's eye. But she did real well pointing out how we 'po' folk need to learn to survive.

What's with the different term "trainer" used instead of "soldier"? Does the Obama administration really think the Afghanistan and Pakistan people are so stupid that they just have to "soften" their terminology and they will suddenly work with us? Do you think they may start saying "Please" before the try to kill us?? It might be funny if it weren't so darn sad.
