Today's Forecast for More Snow, Wind in North Dakota

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Officials in Fargo, N.D., hope today's bad
weather doesn't damage the dikes and levees holding back the
swollen Red River.
Today's forecast is for another 7 to 14 inches of heavy, wet
snow, on top of the 6 inches that fell yesterday. And winds are
expected to increase to around 35 mph.
Residents have been working in 2- to 4-hour shifts, keeping an
eye out for any cracks or other other signs that could indicate
problems with the dikes.
Meanwhile, the flood threat continues to take an economic toll.
Some Fargo businesses paid their workers while they joined other
volunteers in filling sandbags but other places couldn't afford to
pay. With many businesses still closed, workers who go paycheck to
paycheck are having a tough time.
