Obama Cabinet Meeting Will Hear Budget Trimming Request

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is convening his
Cabinet for the first time today and issuing new marching orders on
agency spending.
The president is telling his Cabinet chiefs it's time to sharpen
the budget knife. He wants to find and cut dozens of programs that
just aren't working.
He says all Americans are making hard choices, and the
government must do likewise.
This afternoon, Obama visits CIA headquarters to tell employees
their work is vital to America's security. The visit comes four
days after Obama overruled the advice of Director Leon Panetta and
prior agency chiefs and released Bush-era memos approving harsh
terror suspect interrogations that critics call torture.
