North Korea threatens to use nuclear weapons in 'merciless offensive'

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea's rhetoric is getting
stronger.
Pyongyang vows to use nuclear weapons as part of a "merciless
offensive" against anyone who would "touch the country's dignity
and sovereignty even a bit." The threat comes in a commentary
carried in a state-run newspaper and the official Korean Central
News agency.
The U.N. Security Council has been considering new sanctions
against the communist regime as punishment for recent nuclear and
missile tests.
North Korea has vowed to defend itself, but this appears to be
the first time it's referred to its nuclear arsenal as
"offensive" in nature.
Meanwhile, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports that Seoul
has doubled the number of naval ships around its disputed sea
border with the North. The area has been the site of skirmishes
twice in the past ten years.
