Family, friends focus on McNair's life, not end

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A memorial for ex-NFL quarterback Steve
McNair will be held today at the stadium where he once played.
McNair's friends, ex-teammates, former coaches and wife will
celebrate McNair's life during viewings at a funeral home and the
stadium. McNair's wife, Mechelle, has not spoken publicly since he
was found dead in his Nashville, Tenn., condo.
Police say the married 36-year-old was shot in his sleep on the
Fourth of July by his 20-year-old girlfriend who then committed
suicide. Officials say she was "spinning out of control," with
mounting financial problems and her belief that McNair was seeing
someone else.
The pastor who's eulogizing the former Titans quarterback says
"his work ethic on the field and his incredible heart off the
field" overshadow the way he died.
