US thinks Bin Laden son was killed

WASHINGTON (AP) - A U.S. counterterrorism official says one of the many sons of al-Qaida leader Osama bin laden may have been killed by a U.S. missile strike earlier this year - but that it's not certain.

The U.S. official says that at any rate, if Saad bin Laden is dead, he was a small player in his father's terrorist organization.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence.

A number of American broadcast outlets have been reporting that Saad was not the target in the Predator strike in Pakistan, but rather happened to be there when the U.S. was going after someone else.
