KABUL (AP) - NATO says three American troops have been killed in three separate clashes in southern Afghanistan, while other officials say a dozen Taliban fighters died in clashes and airstrikes.
The military alliance says the three Americans died in separate "hostile fire incidents."
The NATO statement said the first died of wounds suffered in an incident on Saturday, another died on Sunday and the third died Monday.
Officials also say a NATO soldier was killed Monday in eastern Afghanistan.
July was the deadliest month in Afghanistan for U.S. and NATO troops with 75 killed. At least 24 U.S. and NATO troops have died this month.
The militants in the south died late Monday inside a compound.
A roadside bomb killed two Afghan soldiers and wounded three others in the same region.
