Biden: Health bill may be ready by Thanksgiving

WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden is predicting that legislation overhauling the country's health care system will be on President Barack Obama's desk "before Thanksgiving."

In a nationally broadcast interview a day after Obama exhorted Congress to act, Biden said he thought the president's speech to lawmakers "debunked a lot of myths out there" about what kind of system will emerge from negotiations in Congress.

Biden said he believes the administration has put to rest accusations the legislation now being drafted includes "death panels" for sick, elderly people and that it would also provide insurance coverage for millions of undocumented immigrants.
