Obama to outline jobs ideas

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama today will outline plans to get help for highways and small businesses, bridges and energy-efficient homes.

In remarks prepared for a speech today, Obama will make a broad pitch to get Americans back to work and roll back double-digit unemployment. It could involve using some leftover bank bailout money.

A partisan rumble is shaping up about the bailout money with irate Republicans who say that cash should go to pay down the massive deficit.

Obama speaks on the economy today at the Brookings Institution.
