Officials: 3 US soldiers killed in Pakistan blast

SHAHI KOTO, Pakistan (AP) - The Pakistani government is condemning a bombing that killed three U.S. soldiers and wounded two others.

The blast that partly destroyed a girls' school also killed three schoolgirls and a Pakistani soldier who was traveling with the Americans. More than 70 other people, mostly students at the school, were also injured.

The U.S. Embassy says the soldiers were part of a small group of American military training members of Pakistan's paramilitary Frontier Corps.

They were in a five-car convoy heading to the inauguration of another school, which had been renovated with U.S. humanitarian assistance.

A local journalist traveling with the convoy says the bomb hit the vehicle the Americans were riding in, suggesting the soldiers were targeted.
