WASHINGTON (AP) - There are signs that a man who shot two Pentagon police officers may have had resentment toward the U.S. government and suspicions over the 9/11 attacks.
John Patrick Bedell was shot to death after pulling out a gun and firing at the subway entrance to the Pentagon. The head of Pentagon police says the suspect calmly pulled a weapon from his pocket and started firing. The officers suffered grazing wounds in an exchange of gunfire that followed.
In an Internet posting, a user by the name JPatrickBedell wrote that he was "determined to see that justice is served" in the death of Marine who committed suicide in 1991. The case has long been the source of conspiracy theories.
