Bomb suspect believed to have tapped into money network

NEW YORK (AP) - A federal law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that suspected Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad is believed to have tapped into an informal network of money brokers to help fund his plot.

Authorities say three Pakistani men arrested yesterday in the Boston area and in Maine provided Shahzad with funds but may not have known how the money would be spent.

The informal network is a system that is centuries old. It's used to move billions of dollars in and out of countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan and Somalia - often to the chagrin of U.S. law enforcement.
