Stocks dip as investors are still cautious about the euro

NEW YORK (AP) - Stocks are falling slightly in early trading as investors remain cautious about the health of Europe's economy.

The drop comes even as the euro bounced off a four-year low reached earlier in the morning.

Major indexes have been tracking the euro in recent weeks because the currency is now seen as a proxy for confidence in Europe's economy and its ability to contain debt problems in countries like Greece.

Major European markets fell after Germany banned certain types of short selling.
