A forklift fire ties up Lexington Firefighters

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Firefighters had to spend extra time on the scene of a fire Monday morning, but it wasn't to battle flames.

A passerby called 911 after spotting a fire at an equipment company on Trade Center Drive, near the Sam's Club on New Circle.

Firefighters say a Genie lift caught fire.

While crews quickly put out the fire, it was a fluid spill that kept them tied up, but cleaning it up was a priority because they didn't want the chemicals to end up in the river.

Firefighters did not expect the clean-up to affect morning traffic.
