Coroner called to Mason County fire

MASON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The coroner has been called after an early morning fire in Mason County.

The Lewisburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire around 4:30am Monday morning on Marshall Station Road in Mason County.

Chief David Kalb tells us that the house was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived and they were able to get it under control around 5am.

A neighbor was standing outside the home and informed the firefighters that a man was inside the home. Kalb says the neighbor tells them he had tried to rescue the victim from the home but was unable to wake him to get him outside.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Kentucky State Police and State Fire Marshall. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
