LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The night before the Kentucky Derby, for many people, means it's time to party.
Derby Eve parties were held all around the Bluegrass State on Friday night.
One of the parties in Louisville had a guest list of athletes, actors, and many other celebrities.
Each year, the Barnstable Brown Gala is the place to be and this year was no exception as dozens of celebrities showed up for the big event.
"This is my first time coming to the party so I'm excited," said Josh Hopkins, an actor on "Cougartown."
More than 40 celebrities were on this year's guest list, ranging from movie stars and singers, to athletes and television actors.
Many of the celebs in attendance told WKYT that they traveled all the way to Louisville with one mission in mind. Betting on horses.
"A good long shot call might be Danza, I'm not done yet I'm gonna do some more studying but that's my early talk, to show," Hopkins says.
And of course, others came for the fashion and those famous Derby hats.
"(My hat) It's black and red, I'm a U of L fan but that's not why, my dress is black so I had to go with some color," said Olivia Henken, contestant of "The Voice."
Everyone at Friday night's Gala had one thing in common; they each came out to have a good time for a great cause.
"It's so much fun to come here, I feel a little bit guilty, but to know that it's for a good cause makes it better. They treat us so good here, it's a big deal," said Terry O'Quinn, an actor on "Lost."
Over the past eight years, the Barnstable Brown Gala has raised more than $9,000,000 for the Barnstable Brown Diabetes and Research Center at the University of Kentucky.
This year marked the 26th annual Barnstable Brown Gala in Louisville.
Other celebrities on this year's guest list included New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, "KISS" singer Gene Simmons, and country music star Miranda Lambert.
