Firefighter injured on scene of fire in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A firefighter in Madison County was injured while trying to put out a fire.

The call came in around 1am Monday morning after two people decided to light a fire pit on their back porch.

When they tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher it didn't work. By the time firefighters arrived the fire spread to the deck and attic.

One firefighter injured his knee during a fall while trying to put out the fire. He was not seriously injured, and returned to help put out hot spots.

Three rooms of the house were destroyed and the rest of the house has smoke and water damage.
