Google and Microsoft to include a kill-switch in smartphones

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Tech giants Google and Microsoft plan to include a so-called kill switch in their smartphones.

They say the feature makes it harder for thieves to use stolen phones.

Newer versions of Apple's iOS already include versions of a kill switch, and Samsung launched a similar system in May.

New York state's attorney general says with Google and Microsoft on board, kill switches will be available for 97% of all cell phones on the market.
