A New Jersey mom has pleaded not guilty to a charge of child endangerment for allegedly taking her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth in violation of state law.
The lawyer for Patricia Krentcil of Nutley entered the plea for her during an appearance Wednesday morning in Superior Court in Newark, N.J.
Attorney John Caruso said outside court that the woman's daughter never entered the tanning booth during their visit to a salon.
Krentcil tells The Associated Press her daughter got her sunburn from being outside on a recent warm day. State law prohibits anyone under 14 from using tanning salons.
