Obama to tout steps to support military families

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is announcing new steps by the federal government to support military families, including programs aimed at preventing suicide and eliminating homelessness.

The White House says several agencies, including Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor, will coordinate on ways to enhance physical and psychological health, ensure excellence in military children's education, develop career opportunities for military spouses, and increase child care availability.

Obama will announce the initiatives Monday at the White House, alongside Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, who have been working with government agencies to find the best ways to address the needs of military families.
