ORANGE, Ohio (AP) - A Cleveland-area man accused of overbilling Medicaid and Medicare by more than $2.5 million has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud and four counts of health care fraud.
Federal authorities say 39-year-old Divyesh "David" Patel of Orange owned Alpine Nursing Care in North Randall.
Court documents say he employed Belita Mable Bush from June 2005 to Oct. 2009 to prepare and submit billings to Medicaid and Medicare for reimbursement for Alpine-provided home health care services. The documents say Patel was aware Bush previously was convicted of a health care-related felony and that Bush falsified documents related to health care services that weren't provided.
Authorities say Bush was convicted earlier of related charges.
An attorney for Patel declined comment until after his client's sentencing on July 18. An attorney for Bush didn't immediately return calls Monday.
