ATLANTA (AP) - Teachers aren't paid well enough -- and it's too hard to get rid of the bad ones. That's the view of most of the Americans surveyed by the Associated Press and Stanford University.
Nearly four out of five said it should be easier for school officials to fire teachers who are performing poorly.
Half said teacher salaries should be based partly on their students' performance on statewide tests.
